Miss Maria Phylactou is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with expertise in cornea, ocular surface disease, and cataract and refractive surgery. She brings a wealth of international experience to SEON Vision, offering advanced surgical solutions for complex eye conditions.
About
After graduating from Athens Medical School, Miss Phylactou completed her ophthalmic training in both Cyprus and the UK, becoming a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology. She then pursued a prestigious fellowship in Cornea and Ocular Surface Disease at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
Her dedication to innovation and education has earned her multiple awards, including first prize in the Global Surgical Video Contest by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She holds a Master’s degree in Ophthalmology (graduating with distinction and a scholarship award) and an advanced post-graduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery, also completed with distinction.
Passionate about research and education, she has published widely in leading ophthalmology journals, presented at international conferences, and supervises medical students and trainees. She also serves as a reviewer for scientific journals and is an active committee member of the prestigious EuCornea organisation.
