Corneal Surgery

Restoring clarity to the “window” of the eye to improve vision and eye health with corneal surgery.

Improve your vision and eye health

The cornea, the transparent, dome-shaped surface of the eye, plays a crucial role in focusing light onto the retina. Conditions such as corneal scarring, keratoconus, Fuch’s corneal dystrophy and certain infections can significantly impair vision, affecting everyday activities and overall quality of life.

What is Corneal Surgery?

Here at SEON Vision, we employ the latest modern day surgical techniques where only precise partial corneal layers are needed to replace the diseased or damaged parts. These procedures are aimed at restoring the normal shape and clarity of the cornea to improve vision and eye health.

How Can It Help?

Corneal surgery can address a wide range of conditions. For patients with corneal scarring, keratoconus, or Fuchs’ corneal endothelial dystrophy, surgery can restore clear vision, reduce the need for corrective lenses, and improve overall eye function. In some cases, corneal transplantation (also known as a corneal graft) may be necessary to replace damaged tissue with a healthy donor cornea.

Corneal Collagen Crosslinking

CXL is a minimally invasive treatment that stabilizes the cornea, crucial for clear vision. In keratoconus or ectasia, the cornea thins and bulges, causing astigmatism and blurred vision.

DMEK Corneal Transplant

An advanced corneal transplant surgery with excellent results for patients with endothelial dysfunction. SEON Vision is the only private centre in South London for this minimally invasive surgery.

DSAEK

DSAEK replaces the inner corneal layer, keeping the outer layers intact. It offers faster recovery, lower rejection risk, and better visual outcomes.

DALK

DALK is a corneal transplant that treats front layer diseases without removing the whole cornea. It replaces only damaged layers, preserving the healthy back layer. This leads to lower rejection risk and better recovery.

Pterygium

A pterygium is a benign eye growth, usually near the nose. It starts on the conjunctiva and can extend onto the cornea. Often called “surfer’s eye,” it affects those exposed to sunlight and is common in warm climates.
