Corneal Collagen Crosslinking

What to expect
Pre-surgery
Before undergoing corneal surgery, your ophthalmologist will conduct a thorough eye exam to assess the condition of your cornea and rest of the eye to determine the most appropriate treatment. Additional advanced diagnostic testing may be used to comprehensively map out your eye.
Surgery day
On the day of your surgery, dilation and antiseptic eye drops will be applied to prepare your eyes. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, or with sedation, and many procedures can be completed on an outpatient basis.
After surgery, you will be cared for in our recovery lounge.
Post-surgery
Recovery times vary, but most patients experience significant improvement in vision within a few weeks to months. Your ophthalmologist will provide post-operative care instructions to ensure optimal healing and results. Sometimes your corneal specialist may request lying on your back to aid the success of the transplant surgery.
