What to expect
Pre-surgery
At a consultation, our expert oculoplastic surgeons will assess your condition and discuss your goals. We’ll explain the procedure, risks and expected results, ensuring you’re fully informed and prepared for surgery.
Surgery day
On the day of your procedure, we’ll walk you through each step to make sure you’re comfortable. Depending on the treatment, it may be performed under local anaesthesia. Surgery times vary, but most are quick and minimally invasive.
Post-surgery
After surgery, you’ll be provided with aftercare instructions for a smooth recovery. This includes managing swelling, avoiding strain and attending follow-up appointments. Most patients experience a one to two week downtime, with results becoming noticeable in the weeks following the procedure.

Blepharoplasty Frequently asked questions
How much does blepharoplasty cost in Kingston upon Thames?
The cost of blepharoplasty at our Kingston clinic varies depending on whether you are having upper, lower, or both eyelids treated, and the complexity of your case. We provide detailed pricing at your consultation. We also offer flexible finance options to help spread the cost. Please contact us on 0203 411 1820 for an indicative guide price.
Do I need a GP referral for eyelid surgery at SEON Vision?
A GP referral is not required to book a consultation at our Kingston clinic. You can contact us directly online or by phone and our team will arrange your initial appointment with one of our oculoplastic surgeons. If your blepharoplasty is being considered for functional reasons — for example, drooping eyelids that impair your vision — your GP or optician may be able to support a referral letter, which can assist with insurance claims. However, ordinarily, for blepharoplasty, it is not covered by insurance companies as it is a cosmetic procedure.
What is the recovery time after blepharoplasty?
Most patients experience a recovery period of one to two weeks. Swelling and bruising are normal in the first week and typically settle significantly by week two. You will be given full aftercare instructions and have follow-up appointments included with your treatment at SEON Vision. Strenuous activity and heavy lifting should be avoided for two to three weeks.
Can blepharoplasty improve my vision, or is it only cosmetic?
Blepharoplasty can be both functional and cosmetic. When drooping upper eyelid skin obstructs your field of vision, surgical correction can meaningfully improve sight and quality of life — including making activities such as driving and reading more comfortable. Our surgeons will assess both the functional and aesthetic aspects during your consultation.
Is upper or lower blepharoplasty right for me?
Upper blepharoplasty addresses excess skin on the upper eyelid, which can cause heaviness, irritation, or impaired vision. Lower blepharoplasty targets under-eye bags and puffiness caused by weakened tissue and fat prolapse. Many patients benefit from both. Your consultant at our Kingston clinic will assess your specific anatomy and goals and recommend the most appropriate approach.
Are the results of eyelid surgery permanent?
Blepharoplasty produces long-lasting results, but the eyes will continue to age naturally over time. Most patients enjoy their outcome for many years without the need for further surgery. Upper eyelid results typically last longer than lower eyelid results.
