Glaucoma

Catch glaucoma before it steals the light. Safeguard your sight with glaucoma monitoring and treatment plans.

Protecting your vision, one check at a time

Glaucoma, often referred to as the “silent thief of sight”, is a leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. This condition can progress without noticeable symptoms. Without early detection and regular monitoring, the effects can be severe.

The importance of glaucoma monitoring includes:

  • Preventing irreversible vision loss
  • Detecting early signs of progression
  • Tracking changes to adjust treatment effectively

Fortunately, with consistent monitoring and early intervention, the progression of glaucoma can be managed and the risk of permanent vision loss reduced. At SEON Vision, our glaucoma specialists use advanced technology to create a personalised treatment plan for each patient and guide you along the way.

What is glaucoma?

Glaucoma typically falls into two main types: open-angle and closed-angle glaucoma. Open-angle glaucoma often develops without noticeable symptoms, while closed-angle glaucoma may present with more obvious signs.

Treatment approaches for each type vary and your clinician will guide you through the most suitable option based on a comprehensive examination.

How can glaucoma monitoring help?

Prevent progression
Regular monitoring allows for effective treatment to prevent further optic nerve damage and halt the disease’s advancement.

Early detection
Routine eye exams help identify changes in the condition early which allows for prompt intervention to preserve vision and avoid impairment.

Monitor changes
Continuous monitoring tracks the effectiveness of your treatment plan and ensures it adapts to any changes in your glaucoma.

SLT Laser

Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) Laser is a safe and effective treatment for glaucoma that targets the trabecular meshwork to improve fluid drainage and lower eye pressure. It can be used alone or alongside eye drops. The procedure takes just 5-10 minutes per eye and has a 70% success rate in reducing intraocular pressure.

LPI

Laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) is a laser procedure used to treat and prevent acute angle-closure glaucoma by creating a small hole in the iris to improve fluid circulation. This reduces the risk of dangerous pressure build-up. LPI provides strong protection against angle-closure glaucoma.

Trabeculectomy

A trabeculectomy is a surgical procedure designed to lower intraocular pressure by bypassing blocked drainage channels in the eye. It is a highly effective treatment for moderate to advanced glaucoma, particularly when other treatments have not worked. While it cannot restore lost vision, it helps prevent further vision loss by stabilising eye pressure.

MIGS

Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) offers a safe and quick alternative for managing glaucoma. By improving fluid drainage and lowering eye pressure, MIGS helps preserve vision with minimal recovery time. Ideal for mild to moderate glaucoma, MIGS provides an effective solution with few complications and a speedy return to daily life.
